My machine will be a marble run that shall stretch over across many complications and shall also include a variety of different forces while also at the same time transferring and transforming energy types. My machine will be a so called Rube Goldberg machine that will be using ingenious ideas to transfer motion from marble to marble and will also be transforming motion energy to a different energy type. The pen will be pulled away with the string attached and the string will pull away a slip of cardboard enabling the marble to roll through a length of tubes that stretch across a variety of different obstacles including a bumpy stairway and a few others until it falls into a cup and is carried away.
Materials Needed to Construct Machine: 1 pen At least a metre of string A few marbles (I have some at home) Planks of wood A few tubes cut in half A lot of cardboard Roll of Sticky Tape Cardboard Boxes Wooden Unit Blocks Cup Set of Scales Dominoes
Instructions: 1. Tie a knot of string to the pen and tie the other end to a piece of cardboard about the length of one of the half tubes. 2. Insert the slit of cardboard into one half tube and then but the marble in the space between the cardboard and the edge of the pipe. 3. Place the tubes, wedges, cardboard and wood in an orderly fashion according to the diagram below. 4. Sticky tape two cardboard rails to the side of a wedge and place it in the designated position in the diagram. 5. Place the scales in its position and place a half tube in a position so that it will run into one of the sides of the scales.
